Mapping Research Trends in Residential Construction Retrofitting: A Scientometric Literature Review

The world is looking to reduce carbon emissions, prevent global warming, and become more energy sustainable. Despite the various strategies for mitigating climate change, fact remains that 80% of greenhouse gas emissions are attributable activities associated with built environment, this where a concentrated focus needed. Moreover, most buildings residential, not commercial or industrial. In essence, ways must be found consumption CO2 from existing houses apartments globally if sustainability realised. recognised way achieve through retrofitting residential buildings. Studies in area have increased recent times, but extent work unmapped undescribed. If further progress made field, researchers’ knowledge domain so far documented. This literature review delivers goal. A scientometric evaluation research on here presented. VOSviewer, Gephi, CiteSpace software packages used. Findings identify as an emerging theme, taking off only recently 2017. breadth very limited, primarily concerned calibrating trade-offs between costs thermal comfort. Emerging new opportunities expand identified. Finally, while several journals accommodate publications topic, analysis reveals Energy Buildings significant citation source.
